Advent has often been understood as a time of anticipation of and preparation for Christmas. Certainly we do look forward to the celebration of the coming of Christ enfleshed in the birth in Bethlehem. But Advent is also a time to remember, anticipate, and prepare for the promised coming of Christ at the end of time. As you
watch and wait the Advent, it is our prayer you find this collection of devotions helpful as you journey through this season.
Each of the entries has been written by a member of one of the four ELCA congregations in Glenview, Northbrook and Northfield. As pastors, we meet for text study to support one another as we study God’s Word in preparation for the coming Sunday’s sermon. Just as we did this past Lent, we thought a project like this might also be meaningful for Advent. We asked members of each congregation to write an entry with one word for each day as its focus.
Thank you to everyone who contributed an entry for this project. Special thanks to Brittany Neptun for formatting and editing this document. Thanks be to God, through our Lord Jesus Christ as we watch and wait for his coming.
